5 Habits That Stop You Failing Prop Firm Evaluations
Simple risk habits that keep inconsistent futures traders from blowing evaluation accounts.
Know your daily loss number before the open
Write down the exact dollar amount that ends your day. Most failed evaluations come from one bad day, not a bad week. If you know the number before you trade, you can stop well before you hit it.
Size down until the drawdown feels boring
If one losing trade takes a big bite out of your drawdown, your size is too big. Smaller size gives you more attempts to be right, and micros make that easy.
Trade one setup
Pick the one setup you understand best and only take that. Adding more setups during an evaluation usually adds more mistakes.
Set a hard stop after two losses
Two losses in a row is a signal to walk away for the day. Revenge trades are the fastest way to lose an account.
Read the rules once, properly
Drawdown type, consistency rules and news-trading limits differ by firm. Check them on the firm's card before your first trade, not after a violation.
