Prop firm rules explained

Most failed accounts break a rule, not a strategy. Learn the five rule types every futures prop firm uses.

By Dee Anthony. Uses EVX’s existing verified partner cards and tier sources, not a new live pricing audit. Terms can change; confirm the exact plan before paying. Education only, not financial advice. Affiliate disclosure.

Drawdown

A loss floor, trailing or static, that ends the account if touched.

Daily loss limit

A per-day loss cap at some firms; others have none.

Contract limits

Maximum minis or micros, sometimes scaling with profit.

Consistency

Limits how much of your profit can come from one day, often in funded stages.

News and strategy permissions

Rules on news trading, bots, hedging and hold time.
