Prop firm minimum account size: what futures traders actually need

A 25K or 50K label tells you the program’s nominal balance—not what you pay, what you can lose or what you can withdraw. Compare those numbers separately before choosing your first futures evaluation.

Short answer: verified 25K entry tiers exist

Apex Intraday Trail, TradeDay Intraday and Bulenox OPTION 2 each have a 25K tier in EVX’s verified account data. There is no industry-wide minimum. BluSky’s verified Launch set starts at 50K; EVX’s DayTraders and Top One cards cover featured 50K plans but do not establish their provider-wide minimums.

Account balance, loss allowance and entry fee are different

Nominal account size
The advertised starting balance or plan label. It is not a cash deposit into your personal brokerage account; verify whether the stage is simulated or live.
Drawdown and daily loss limits
The provider’s loss constraints. A trailing floor can move as profits grow. A daily limit, where present, is a separate restriction—not extra risk capacity.
Purchase and ongoing costs
The money you pay for access. Include billing duration, potential renewals, activation, resets and applicable data or software charges. Checkout—not the nominal balance—determines your purchase cost.

These are minima within the named stored tier sets, not an exhaustive catalog of every current product. Prices below remain the existing card excerpts; a featured-card offer must not be assumed to apply to a smaller tier.

Choose around your stop—not the biggest balance

Start with your instrument, normal stop distance and planned risk per trade. Then check whether the remaining drawdown, daily loss limit and scaling rules allow that plan with room for trading costs and slippage. A contract maximum is a ceiling, not a recommendation.

For example, the verified 25K Apex and TradeDay tiers both list a $1,000 maximum drawdown. They do not provide $25,000 of loss capacity. Bulenox’s 25K OPTION 2 lists $1,500 EOD drawdown alongside a separate daily loss rule. These programs still differ in tracking method, costs and funded requirements.

Keep perps separate from exchange futures

Vest Markets is an EVX perpetual-contract partner. Its smaller nominal balances are not equivalent exchange-traded futures plans and are excluded from this futures entry-tier table. Read the Vest Markets review →

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum account size for a futures prop firm?

There is no universal minimum. EVX’s verified tier sets include 25K evaluations at Apex Intraday Trail, TradeDay Intraday and Bulenox OPTION 2. That is the smallest verified tier in those sets, not a promise that every provider or program starts at 25K.

Do I need $25,000 to buy a 25K prop firm account?

No. The nominal account label is not your personal deposit requirement. You pay the provider’s stated evaluation or program fee. Review separate activation, renewal, reset, data and platform costs before buying.

Can I lose the full advertised account balance?

No. The plan’s drawdown and any daily loss rules constrain trading long before the nominal balance is exhausted. Your remaining distance to the current breach level matters more than the account label.

Is the smallest account always the cheapest choice?

No. Fees, promotions, billing periods and activation costs differ. A cheap evaluation can also be unsuitable if its drawdown or contract limits do not fit your trading plan.

Does a larger account guarantee larger payouts?

No. Payout eligibility, qualifying days, consistency, reserves and caps are separate rules. A larger nominal balance does not guarantee passing or withdrawing profit.
