What Happens in a Prop Firm Payout Review or Interview?
What a prop firm may check before approving a payout, and how to keep your records clean so a review or interview goes smoothly.
Why firms review payouts
Before money leaves the firm, many providers check that the account followed every rule. Some do this with an automated review, some may ask questions or request a short call. What happens, and when, depends on the firm, so read its payout terms first.
Common things a review can look at
Typical areas include identity verification, whether trading stayed within allowed hours and products, position sizes, any news-trading limits, and whether trades look copied or coordinated across accounts. Treat this as a checklist to read your firm's rules against, not a list of what every firm checks.
Keep your own trade journal
Write down why you took each trade, your size and your stop. If a firm asks about a day, you can answer from your notes instead of memory. A simple spreadsheet or the EVX dashboard works.
Answer plainly and honestly
If asked about your strategy, describe your actual setup and risk plan in simple words. Don't guess at rules you're unsure about; ask the firm's support instead.
Red flags to avoid before requesting a payout
Sudden huge size on one day, trading during restricted news windows, or using tools the firm doesn't allow can all hold up a payout. Check the rules on your firm's card before you request.
