How Do You Use a 30% Consistency Rule Calculator?
Calculate your best-day share, required total profit and remaining profit under a hypothetical 30% prop firm consistency rule.
What does a 30% consistency rule measure?
A common profit-based rule compares your largest profitable trading day with total net profit in the relevant assessment period. Under a 30% ceiling, that best day must not exceed 30% of the total. This is a hypothetical rule, not a claim that every firm uses the same formula. Some providers use different denominators, exclude certain days, apply strict rather than inclusive limits, or reset the assessment after a payout. Read your selected plan's current wording first.
How do you calculate the percentage?
Divide the best day's profit by total profit, then multiply by 100. Hypothetical example: a $600 best day with $1,500 total profit is 40%, above a 30% ceiling. If total profit is zero or negative, the simple percentage does not establish eligibility. Enter net figures using the provider's treatment of commissions and losing days, not just the sum of winning trades.
How much total profit would you need?
For this hypothetical inclusive rule, required total profit equals best-day profit divided by 0.30. A $600 best day needs $2,000 total; from $1,500, that means $500 more while the best day remains $600. If a later day becomes your new best day, recalculate. A provider that requires strictly less than 30% would need total profit above $2,000, not merely equal to it.
Why can another big day move the goalpost?
Suppose a new day earns $900 and raises your best day from $600 to $900. Under the same formula, required total profit becomes $3,000. The calculator is a planning check, not a reason to force extra trades to reach a denominator. Losses can reduce total profit and increase the best-day share even when your largest winning day has not changed.
Does passing the calculator unlock a payout?
No. A consistency calculation answers one rule only. Trading-day requirements, withdrawal caps, minimum balances, drawdown limits, identity checks and other agreement terms may still apply. Open the broader consistency guide and your firm's profile for context, and verify the official plan rules before requesting a payout. Trading involves substantial risk, and no calculator guarantees eligibility or profits.
