Your first week on a funded account
You passed the evaluation. The funded account is where most traders give profit back — because the rules, not the trading, change. Here is a first-week checklist to onboard properly. Education only — not financial advice.
Day 1: read the funded rules before anything else
The rules that got you through the evaluation are not always the rules that pay you. Funded phases commonly add or change: consistency requirements on payouts, minimum trading days, minimum daily profit, payout caps and a minimum balance with a safety buffer. Each EVX partner's funded terms are on their card and review page — start there, then confirm on the firm's official page.
Write down three numbers before your first funded trade: your risk per trade, your personal daily stop, and the distance to your drawdown floor. If the funded account starts you back at the initial balance with a fresh drawdown, your evaluation cushion does not carry over.
Days 1–2: platform and account setup
- Confirm the account is live. Match the account number in your firm dashboard to the one on your trading platform before placing anything.
- Check the data feed and connection. Place nothing real until charts load and orders confirm on the correct account.
- Set platform risk controls. Configure your max position size and daily loss alerts in the platform, not just in your head.
- Re-verify what you can trade. Product list, session times and any restricted behavior — overnight holds, news trading — can differ between phases.
Days 3–5: trade the same way you qualified
The funded account is not a lottery ticket for aggressive sizing. Keep the same risk per trade and daily stop that got you through the evaluation. If your plan called for scaling up only with a cushion, that rule applies even more now: consistency rules reward steady, similar-sized green days and punish the single hero day.
Log every session. A simple journal — date, size, result, distance to floor — is what payout reviews and your own honesty both run on. If a payout review is coming, the payout review preparation guide walks through what firms check.
End of week 1: prepare the first payout, then ignore it
Know the payout path before you need it: the minimum trading days, the profit minimum, any request caps and the payout cycle for your specific plan. Then trade as if the payout does not exist — chasing the minimum with forced trades is how traders hand back a passing account.
When profit starts building, keep a safety buffer above the minimum withdrawal balance so a processed payout never puts your account at risk. The math is in payout math and safety buffers, and the mechanics are in how prop firm payouts work.

FAQ
Do the rules change once I'm funded?
Usually yes. Many firms loosen some evaluation requirements but add funded-phase conditions — consistency rules on payouts, minimum trading days, maximum payout caps or a safety buffer above a minimum balance. Read the funded rules before your first funded trade, not after.
What should I do before my first funded trade?
Confirm your account number is live on your platform, verify the data feed and connection, re-read the funded rules, and write down your risk per trade, daily stop and the current drawdown floor.
How soon can I request my first payout?
It depends on the firm: minimum trading days, minimum profit, payout caps and consistency all apply, and they differ per plan. Check the firm's payout card and rules before you trade — not when you feel ready to withdraw.
What is a payout safety buffer?
Extra profit you keep above the firm's minimum withdrawal balance. It protects the account while a payout is processed and keeps you eligible for the next one. See the payout math and safety buffer guide.
Should I trade bigger once I'm funded?
No. The funded account is where the rules are strictest about how profit arrives. Keep the same risk per trade that got you through the evaluation and scale only when your cushion clearly allows it.
